メラノサイトの消失
ケラチノサイトとメラノサイトは、正常で健康な肌の機能と色に必要な細胞です。これらの細胞の一方または両方に障害が生じると、バランスが崩れ、ストレスや機能不全が連鎖的に発生します。ケラチノサイトとは異なり、メラノサイトは自然に再生されることは稀であり、その結果、機能の低下や細胞死が起こると、色素沈着が長引くだけでなく、皮膚の生化学的機能障害にもつながる。
白斑について
白斑は、自己免疫疾患の一つで、皮膚の色素脱失という非常に目立つ症状を示します。色素沈着は、メラノサイトの減少により生じます。ランゲルハンス細胞(免疫細胞)が白斑の免疫学的な主要な役割を担っていると考えられています(21)。ケラチノサイト、メラノサイト、ランゲルハンス細胞間の正常な相互作用の不均衡が、色素脱失を引き起こすと考えられています。
